Where in the world have I been?!

Hello wonderful blog friends! Boy, have I missed you all. First off, I wanted to apologize for my absence. The last couple of months have been so crazy and so exciting for me, filled with formals, functions, friends, family, and last but not least, a very sweet boy who has come in to my life. I want to do individual posts on the most exciting parts, but for now I will just post a few pictures from each :)

Prepare yourselves... lots of pictures are about to come your way!

Nerd Alert!!

I'm so sorry for being MIA these past 2 weeks. I've been swamped with school work, sorority events and just getting back into the swing of things since spring break!!

This weekend I decided to get away and go to my beach house with my family. With the unusually hot weather, I was outside all day and managed to finish one book and get about halfway through another. Right now, I'm in the mood for "quick reads." Although I do love the books that are deep and challenging, I've recently gravitated towards short fun books.

I just finished The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart. I heard someone mention the book a while ago and bought it on my Kindle soon after even though I didn't start reading it until recently. (Side note: If you're an avid reader like I am, GET A KINDLE! They are the best invention since... well, I don't really know. But mine has saved my life! I even have the kindle app on my iPhone so I can basically read anywhere my little heart desires........ Nerd alert..) Anyways, it's a really exciting book about a girl going to a private school who desperately wants to join the secret male society.

The book I just started is called The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I actually wasn't too sure about this one, but I'm usually a sucker for fiction books full of magic and mystery, so I decided to give it a try. I love a good realistic love story like any other Southern girl, but isn't it great to sometimes read about a world that is completely imaginary? So far, I'm loving this book. It's about a competition between two young magicians/illusionists who ultimately fall in love. Just writing this, I know this sounds a bit cheesy, but I'm really getting in to it! I'll let y'all know what I think once I finish!!

If you guys know of any great books that I should read, please let me know! I'm always looking for suggestions and I will honestly read anything!

This week isn't too busy for me, so I'll try to blog more :) I've missed communicating with everyone!! I'll leave you beauties with some pictures from my beach house this weekend! ... just looking at them makes me want to jump in the car right now and go back.

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!

translation...
SPRING BREAK 2012

Thank you for all the birthday wishes and kind words about spring break! I'm so happy to have new blogging friends to share my experiences with and I'm excited to get to know each and every one of you :)

Spring Break was a BLAST! I had so much fun spending the week (and my birthday) with so many of my friends. 3 out of the 4 big schools in NC had SB the same week, and somehow a LOT of people found out about the same trip we were going on... Needless to say, I knew so many people at the resort. My older sister (who is 22 and goes to a rival university) was also on the trip with me. This was the first spring break that we've spent together and I ended up loving her being there.

We stayed at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach All-Inclusive resort: food, flight, drinks ( wink wink ). The weather was also great, around 75-80 every day and mostly sunny the whole week!!

As I'm writing this, I'm sitting in class wishing I could go back. I fee like the whole week went by way too quickly! I have so much to look forward to this coming weekend, though. Thursday, I have a cocktail with my sorority ... SPEAKING OF WHICH, I definitely need to figure out who I'm going to take. I'm at a loss with the whole "date" situation right now (I think y'all can understand why).... And then Friday is my home birthday party followed by St. Patrick's day on Saturday :)

Well I'm going to leave y'all with way too many pictures from my trip to the Bahamas! ( I accidentally took 310! )

I'm dreaming of...

In approximately 6 days, 3 hours and 40 minutes (give or take a few)... I will be on an airplane with a whole crew of my best friends heading to the Bahamas for spring break!!

NOT ONLY is it spring break... but I will also be celebrating my
21ST BIRTHDAY
that same week :) So many wonderful things to look forward to!

Although I will be with so many friends on my trip, I'm still planning on having a big birthday party the next week, once everyone is back at school. I have never really had a big birthday party before. I usually keep it pretty low key, but this time I want to celebrate one of the most exciting birthdays I will have probably in my lifetime... yes, yes I know I sound completely ridiculous, but what girl doesn't want a night to be about them at least ONCE or twice?

I have so much to do in preparation for the Bahamas. The one thing at the top of my list (although it SHOULD be studying for my last midterm that is TOMORROW) is finding the perfect birthday dresses. Yes, I meant for that to be plural. I've told myself that I must get 2 dresses... one for my Bahamas birthday and one for my birthday party back home. Can you blame me?

Reading through this post I've realized that I might be blowing my birthday out of proportion... I guess because it's something that I've been looking forward to for YEARS that I want to make it as memorable and special as possible.

I hope y'all can forgive me for being overly-excited and maybe a little dramatic... just this once! I promise :)

He Leaves for Beijing....

So there's this boy...

If I received a pair of shoes for every time I started a sentence with this statement, I would have a collection rivaling Mariah Carey's.

So, if y'all remember my post about New Years Eve, I mentioned this certain boy who happened to be moving to China for a 4 month internship. Well the day has come... As of right now he is in a hotel room in Beijing sleeping off the jet-lag after spending almost 24 hours on an airplane.

As some people probably know, China blocks many websites and social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, even blogging websites like Blogspot, Tumblr and Wordpress!! So there are limited resources to help him communicate with friends and family back home. Luckily there is always Skype and Email. A couple weeks before he left, we were joking about being "pen pals" (this was more of my idea... he thought it was a little cheesy). After having this talk, I had a great idea to design him some personalized stationary and little things he would need while traveling... finally another chance to use my graphic design skills outside of class!

I know I misspelled address.. whoops!!

The last night he was in town he stayed in a hotel and I helped him pack his whole life into one big suitcase. I must say, for a boy, he packed A LOT! He told me the suitcase ended up weighing over 85 pounds!! Luckily the man at the counter felt bad for him, and only charged him $70 extra instead of $200!

He was completely surprised with my little stationary set that I made! Now he has no excuse to NOT write me little letters... I even addressed one of the envelopes so it would be easier for him!

I'll definitely miss him, but I'm excited to hear about his travels and life on the other side of the world.

Wrist Candy

“Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory.”
Coco Chanel

Sorry Coco, times are changing! I love the new trend that has been dubbed 'wrist candy' ....And no, we aren't talking about edible candy jewelry here!

This trend involves mixing and matching different styles, textures, colors, metals and sized bracelets --maybe including a watch or 2-- and layering them on your wrist. It's a need and exciting way to spice up any outfit!

(thanks Pinterest for all the fabulous pictures!)

What do y'all think? Do you love this trend as much as I do, or is simple and classic the way to go?
